About Kingsford

Kingsford is located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney, 7 kilometres south-east of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Randwick.

One of Sydney’s most desirable areas.

Kingsford is primarily a residential suburb located close to the city of Sydney and less than 5kms from the golden sands of beaches, undoubtedly adding to the suburbs popularity.

The suburb was initially named South Kensington in 1936.  It was renamed after the famous aviator Charles Kingsford Smith.

The nearby Kingsford Smith Airport was also named after the renowned adventurer.  The area itself remained largely undeveloped until the 1920s.

Kingsfords’ commercial district is centred around the main thoroughfare road, Anzac Parade.  The commercial district contains shopping centre lined with many Asian and Cosmopolitan outstanding restaurants, cafes and businesses.

The multicultural suburb has a wide variety of houses for growing families and apartment blocks providing accommodation for University students.

Kensington Oval is an attractive sporting recreation field bordered by palm and fig trees and a modern children’s play ground.  The oval has facilities for cricket, rugby union and rugby league, a grandstand and a kiosk which operates on match day.

Kingsford is home to The Juniors Kingsford which is located along Anzac Parade.
