The Lunar New Year celebration at Meeks Street Plaza was a spectacular success, drawing over 1,000 attendees and bringing the Kingsford community together to welcome the Year of the Snake. Hosted by Randwick City Council, the event featured a vibrant mix of family-friendly activities and cultural performances.

Highlights included the stunning lion dancing, an energetic K-POP dance by JK Academy, and a lively DJ Dumplings performance. The evening kicked off with a “Welcome to Country” ceremony and a warm speech from the Mayor, setting the tone for the festivities. Guests also enjoyed a traditional calligraphy workshop and were treated to the beautiful sounds of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Chinese Music Ensemble.

This year’s program offered something for everyone, with live performances, workshops, food offerings, and, of course, the iconic Lion Dance. It was a wonderful celebration of culture, unity, and joy for the Kingsford community!
